SUMMARY:Round Robin Q & A Session
DESCRIPTION:We're going to do something a little different at the April meeting.\nWe'll
be having a question and answer session in which everyone can,\nand hopefu
lly will, participate.\n \nEach of us needs to put our thinking caps on and
come up with a\nlist of questions to be answered by the other members of t
he group.\nThe questions should be written on individual pieces of paper an
d\nwill be thrown into a hat (or "hat equivalent device") and drawn\nout an
d asked by each of those attending in turn (so write clearly\nand in comple
te sentences).\n \nFor each question, we'll go round the table and each per
son can\nanswer in as little or as much detail as they wish, but should sta
y\n"on topic".\n \nTo make that work, we have some rules concerning the que
stions:\n \n1. The questions should not be ones which have a specific techn
ical\nanswer, because once answered there is little room for the\nremaining
participants to contribute.\n \n2. It follows that this is not an opportun
ity to get your specific\nproblem fixed; it is to elicit the experiences an
 d knowledge of\nothers at a more general level.\n \n3. The questions will b
e answered by multiple people and so should\nnot be addressed to anyone in
particular.\n \n4. The answers to the questions should be facts or opinions
based on\neach person's individual experience, so there will be different\
nanswers from different people.\n \n5. The questions should be relevant to
the purpose of the group.\n \n6. The group may decide to veto any question
which is deemed to be\ninappropriate or trivial.\n \nAs an example, and to
get us in to the rhythm, the first question\nout of the hat will be, "When
did you first encounter Linux?"\n(Don't use that as your question; it's alr
eady taken!)\n \nRemember that we need to fill in the evening, so it's bett
er if we\nhave questions left over than to run out fifteen minutes in.\n \n
But to start off, John will report on his visit to the Waikato LUG's\nMarch
meeting on Monday. There are some ideas which have arisen\nfrom that which
  we ought to kick around.\n
